Splitting Headache

So I’m sitting here with a splitting headache, which may or may not be a result of my taking some Pamprin earlier today. I didn’t have it before, I know that much. Go figure, eh? Next time I’ll stick to naproxen sodium (Aleve).

Renee woke me up by calling at 12:30 today. 45 minutes later, I called her back and she came over to crochet. We gossiped. I did a row on my insanely long (500 stitches) scarf. After that we went to Walmart and I picked up a few things (including “made for you with love” and “made with love by..” tags for the stuff I’ve crocheted). Then Renee had to go to work, so I came home and made myself dinner.

So I’m sitting here talking to Alex about my cousin’s continuing computer “problems” (at this point they’re primarily caused by the games she tries to play, so Alex knows more about that than I do), when all of a sudden I hear crush.. crush.. crunch. I look out my window and some jackass in a maroon SUV backing out of the neighbor across the street’s driveway just ran over our garbage. Apparently there were multiple whacks because after he hit it he stopped, looked back, and kept going. Either he didn’t see it or didn’t care since it wasn’t a mailbox. Then he sped away, leaving a big pile of garbage – especially the recycling crap – all over my driveway.

It’s time I took an Aleve. Oh yeah, last night I finished Alan’s hat. This is what it looks like. It’s quite a bit different since it’s completely black and I used a thinner yarn. You can see the holes and stitches much more clearly, and I don’t know if he’ll like that. Apparently they DO make plain black Lion Brand Homespun yarn, but it’s NEVER in any of the stores I go to (we have a pretty big Michaels, the Walmart, and a Jo Ann Fabrics that’s moving so it has piss poor selection). Oh well, if he doesn’t like it, I’ll order plain black Homespun online.

I Gotta Start Going to Sleep Earlier

Why is it so late? Dammit, it happened again. This time, though, I was actually doing something productive. I copied all of my Futurama (I finished Volumes 1-3) to my hard drive. I used DVD Shrink 3.2 to get them from the DVD (which I love) and Magic Video Batch Converter to make them smaller .avi files instead of 500mb .vob files. It’s a pain in the ass, let me tell you about it. I’m tired, I’m going to procrastinate more then go to bed.

Feeling: Headachey

Listening to: Nothing, cuz defragging and encoding and re-encoding takes up a lot of computer energy.

Wow it’s late

I went to Spring Hill mall with Renee, then I followed her to work and watched her teach her swim lesson for a half hour. We stopped at Michaels to pick up some yarn (so I can make Alan a second hat – this one will be plain black). I decided to get some for myself to make a nice fashionable scarf like you see in the Gap or Charlotte Russe – very, very long, thin (only about two inches wide), and pastel.

After Michaels, Renee and I met up with Megan at the Lake Street Dennys (LSD). I met her baby girl, Emma. Shortly after, we went home. I started on Alan’s hat, although I think I will begin my scarf too.

I decided how to make my Leela costume for halloween. I’m getting purple hair dye, possibly using this purple wig I have from when I was a fetus. For the eye, I’m going to get some white silk chiffon and use a Sharpie on it for an outline and a pupil. I’ll sew it in the right shape (with Jen’s help, probably), and double-sided tape it to my face. For the wrist communicator, I’m using the tube that the puppy poster came in (huzzah to Vicki!) and some paint. Everything else is a piece of cake. Can you believe that I can do this costume for under $10? Me, neither. I rock.

I just had to say, I ordered ink refills for my Canon i860′s color cartridges yesterday at 2pm from Amazon.com. I received them with FREE super saver shipping at 11:45am today.

All Tile Called

…and woke me up at 11:15am (or so). It’s okay, I’d half woken up at like 10:30. Anyway, he said that they narrowed it down to three people (he had originally told me 1-2) and that the “way they do things” is that there’s a second “meeting” with another manager or two. I’m one of those three people, and I’ve got a second meeting on Friday at 10am. This was what I was expecting based on his response to the thank you email I sent. I wonder who and why the other two people are on the list, but I shouldn’t get too caught up on that. The important one is me, right?

Feeling: Good (in spite of it being early)

Bumming It

I spent most of today ripping my Futurama DVDs to my computer because Alan wants to watch them. I ordered the fourth volume online, so maybe I’ll have all of them ripped by the time I go back to Champaign. Apparently the next time I go there, his parents will be in town. I haven’t seen them in a long time, since Alan hasn’t spent much time at home in the past year or so. I put up the poster that Vicki got me for my birthday, since I finally remembered to bring it home this weekend.

[Job] No, I still haven’t heard yet. Marc from All Tile Inc. said I’d hear from him “early next week,” meaning I will probably hear something by Wednesday, with any luck.

I finished the hat I was making for my dad. I am almost done with the hat for Renee, and I plan to finish it tonight. I’m going to the mall with her tomorrow, so I figured it’d be nice if it was done by then. I don’t know what else I’m doing tomorrow besides the mall and probably crocheting with Renee, but Jen is supposed to call after she takes her birdies to the vet. She’s worried that they have the beak and feather disease, because she’s been around birds at work that have it, and no one really knows what causes it (but it’s always fatal). That’s about it.

Champaign Visit v9.0, Day 3 & 4

Saturday I went to the outlet mall in Tuscola with Sara. It was much further than I had expected (it’s about a half hour drive), so Alan was awake well before we got back at around 5:30. I bought 8 pairs of earrings (since I felt earring deprived). I also got The Nanny Diaries in hardcover for $4. I bought a truffle and an ice cream cone at the chocolate factory place. I was going to get this 3/4 sleeve ringer tee at the Gap (it was super soft and $9) but the only sizes they had in the color I wanted were S and XS – and they must have had about thirty of them. Go figure.

When I got back, Alan and I met Fred, Flow, Scott, Patter and Erin at Cowboy Monkey for dinner. It’s a nice atmosphere for a bar (they have tables outside), but they had all of five entrees on their menu, with the only sides being a caesar salad, a spinach salad, or a potato salad. Alan left hungry, but he didn’t mind too much because they went to play hockey about an hour afterward.

After hockey, Alan and Djenia made chicken stir fry as well as octopus stir fry. Octopus is very very chewy. Apparently the suction cups still work (before you cook them), and that kind of freaked me out, so I only had one piece. I made two batches of sugar cookies though. Alan kept trying to talk us all into watching Die Hard with a Vengeance, but he never successfully did. Our food was done at around midnight, so nobody was particularly up for an entire movie. Alan, Djenia, Vicki and I had a few drinks and traded philosophical musings (as people are inclined to while inebriated) before going to sleep. Apparently Vicki got locked out of apartment 9 (where she was staying for the weekend) so she slept on Alan’s couch.

Sunday, Alan and I woke up at 2pm, in spite of getting a decent amount of sleep the night before. He and Djenia made me and Vicki breakfast. After that I took Alan grocery shopping again, and to Far East to get some basil. They gave him a huge bag full. We had a barbeque with Rob (even though he wasn’t hungry) and I did most of the grilling. I didn’t burn anything or undercook anything, so HA. Alan, being a person who very much enjoys cooking, hates it when I’m cooking. I think it also has to do with his perfectionism. I shouldn’t complain; a man that cooks is truly better than a man who does not. Beyond that, a man who enjoys cooking… damn.

Shortly after the barbeque, I stopped by at HH to say hi to people and drop off the cookies I made for Alex. I wasn’t there very long, but I did get to see my room. I was very strange; it felt EXACTLY the same, even though there was practically nothing in there that I recognized. The only thing that I didn’t like was it had new carpet. Don’t get me wrong, the carpet was nice, but it was wrong. I guess there’s just something special about a place that you live for three years.

I started cleaning my room when I got home (around 10:30) and I’ve been stalling ever since. I started crocheting a couple of things, but nothing is done yet. I really need to get to bed, it’s getting late. Oh well, hopefully there will be job news tomorrow from the guy at All Tile. :)

Champaign Visit v9.0, Day 2

Yesterday was a lot of fun. After we woke up, Alan made me pancakes and sausage and Will made eggs. It was very tasty (and very amusing to see the men cooking for the woman). Don’t worry, I did the dishes after. I’m not a complete slacker.

After breakfast (it was around 3:30), we watched the second Die Hard movie (we had watched the first one on Thursday night). It was okay, but the first one was definitely better. From what I hear, the third one is the best, and I think I’ve seen that one already. According to IMDb, they’re coming out with a fourth one in 2006. I didn’t think these movies were that good, but whatever.

We went to Cheddars after the movie, and it was okay. I had a hard time deciding what to get, because I’d had most everything that I was interested in, and I wanted something that wouldn’t upset my stomach. I guess I’ve inherited my family’s wonderful digestive system. At least the Chips n Queso was good (as it is in most restaurants). After dinner we went to Meijer. Alan needed a couple of groceries, and I needed cookie mix (for Alex’s cookies) as well as to replace some of the toiletries I keep at Alan’s (I realized I had to do this when my toothbrush smelled funny and my shaver was growing something orange). I was excited because I found a triple blade razor for $4 (with one refill). Meijer brand conquers over Venus. I definitely like it, but I don’t know if it’s worth it to buy at home (on a regular basis).

Once we got home, we started watching Star Wars Episode 2. It wasn’t all that great, but halfway through, a dozen people came over to the apartment. I don’t know if I can remember everyone, but I’ll try: Becky, Erin, Flow, Fred, Patter, Pat B., Pat Kim, Scott, Djenia, Vicki, Alan & me. Apparently they’d been having a party up in room 9 and Heidi kicked them out. A bunch of them continued drinking here, and Vicki, Djenia, and Pat B. all went out on the roof for a while. After a few people left, more people came over (these were neighbors that they didn’t know very well). Apparently, they’re the guys who set off that firework that woke me up at 4am as well as the ones who did the “run around and fall down” game during How to Host a Murder. It was nice to know that they lived here last year and completely harrassed the girls who were in this apartment in terms of sound without being entirely aware of it. Apparently the floors are very thin, and they would play music at what they called a normal level which would cause paintings and dishes in the sink to rattle on the floor below. Interesting concept of normal or poor construction? We may never know, but at least they say they’ve toned down since last year.

So Alan just kind of woke up, and I told him to go back to sleep. He really hasn’t slept much lately, so he needs as much as he can get. My plan is to go to the mall with Sara soon and be gone while Alan sleeps in. I was assuming since we were up until 4am with the party last night that he would sleep in until at least 4pm, but I guess that’s not as safe a bet as I thought. Oh well, shopping is fun, and for Alan, sleeping is fun, so it should be a good day.

Feeling: Kind of tired, but excited.

Listening to: Alan’s loud keyboard clacking as I type.

Champaign Visit v9.0, Day 1

I tried to post yesterday, but the browser lost my entry after the post failed. Anyway, I finished that steering wheel cover.

[Job] I wrote a thank you to the All Tile guy yesterday, and I got an email back from him. I could be wrong, but he didn’t seem as excited as he was before. This might mean that there are other candidates that he is interested in, or that he feels like he messed up in my interview by telling me too much. Who knows. I won’t find out today (I don’t think), so I’ll have to wait until “early next week.”

Yesterday I dropped off a CD with drivers for my cousin since her computer (the one I built) is still having video card driver problems, and she has a dial-up connection (so it would take forever for her to download the drivers herself). I had almost forgotten how slow that was.

Alan, Rob, Becky, Will and I had BBQ turkey sausage and brats for dinner. After that I went to improv (and Alan went to play hockey). Improv was a lot of fun. I gave away the hat I had made for Alan because the color really did not suit him. I am going to make Alan another one out of plain black (instead of the gray that I had). But the real question is: Where did Lexi’s legs go?!

We went to Fridays after improv for dessert. After that I went back to Alan’s apartment and we watched Die Hard before he fell asleep. He’s still sleeping now, actually. He hasn’t gotten a lot of sleep lately so I decided it would be good to let him sleep in today. In another hour, though, I’m sure I’m going to start throwing things at him to wake him up.

Feeling: Congested, even after taking Benadryl.

Listening to: Nothing, because I don’t want to wake Alan up.
