Worn out

You have no idea what it took for underneath my bed to look like this. Today I tackled, wrestled and wreaked havoc upon the gigantic dust bunnies and bins of crap under my bed. I need a nap or something. Definitely. I’m getting too old to spend so much time cleaning. I never thought that I’d have this much crap; I guess being a spoiled only child and the genes to never throw stuff out shoulda clued me in.

Brian is building a giant bubble nest, but he’s still not eating much. I try to feed him every day, like Katy’s betta ate, but he’s just not having it. I’ve fished out and thrown out more food than this fish has even touched. Such a picky little brat, eh?

As you can see, Brian did get some new toys though. The plant and the froggies my mom bought at Walmart. Ignore how the picture distorts his nose.

Cleaning my Room Leads to Discoveries

Most recently I found the tapes I recorded at “Big Time Studio” in Great America. All six of them. Considering that they’re $13 a tape (add $7 if you want another song on the back) and five of the six had backs, I spent a helluva lot of money on these. So, in a meager attempt to get my money’s worth I listened to them again. I can practically order them chronologically by how badly I sucked on each. I don’t know, I guess I liked some of them, but even if I did, what do I do with them now? I certainly can’t throw them out. I’m considering exporting them to my computer. *thinks* Eeeexcelent.

Anyway, on the topic of TravelCLICK I got that email from John and am (I guess) in the process of rewriting that email. It should be fun for me, but it’s terribly stressing. I feel like my future as a marketer depends on this one email. I know at the very least my salary will. I should get cracking. :/ Volunteers for proofing welcome, apply online.

Interview at TravelCLICK

Well, I talked to John at TravelCLICK and the job is completely different than I thought it would be, all because of Kristina. See, Kristina is the TravelCLICK employee who does most if not all of the persuasive writing. She decided to quit, and her last day is Friday. People are sort of worried; TravelCLICK has never been quick at replacing anyone, so there’s no one lined up to do her job. That’s where I come in.

I had thought that the primary use that they had for me was coding VBA projects to make things like the eTRAK report automated. As it stands they’re more interested in my writing skills to cover for Kristina on what may be a semi-permanent (at least as permanent as jobs are these days) basis. Can we say, “Hellz yeah!!”?

Now, Kristina is a Senior Director (I think?) who quite probably makes six figures. She has a window office. How much of this I will get is debatable. I know I won’t be making that much money or have that kind of title, but my point is this isn’t a flimsy job.

So now what? Well, there has been no real job offer yet. Right now, John needs to know that I can write. So he’s going to send me an email “tomorrow night” that he wants me to rewrite from a different angle; it’s a sort of negative message with a positive solution that is buy TravelCLICK’s products again. I am to send that back to him within a couple of days. After that, I’m not sure, but John is meeting with Ray (CEO #1 of 2) tomorrow and will discuss the possibility of hiring me.

On my way

Well, I feel about as uncomfortable as possible (it’s 85 degrees and I’m in a suit that I hate, with my hair that isn’t cooperating). I just want to get this dumb interview over with. Apparently I’m going to be given a writing test. Get me out of here.

Shop Odd T-Shirts

Pandas Are Our Friends T-Shirt. So yeah, should I buy that shirt? or maybe this one… Polish Princess. The only problem with the latter is that people will think that it’s “pah-lish” instead of “poe-lish,” and be very confused, especially since it’s not capitalized. Thoughts? No t-shirt for Karen?

Major Update #1

Ok, so it occurred to me that perhaps not everyone knows what’s been going on with me lately. Let’s start small.

[Brian] I bought a beta fish. His name is Brian (after the dog in Family Guy). I think he’s sick or unhappy at the least, since he’s not eating. Maybe he missed me while I was gone this weekend.

[Alan] We’ve been together for over two years now. He’s getting his Masters and/or PhD in Computer Engineering at U of I. He finished his undergrad a year early, so he graduated with me. He wants to design killer robots and have his masters thesis classified. I’ve been driving down to Champaign every other weekend to visit him.
[Job] I have an interview at TravelCLICK tomorrow, and I think it will go well. I don’t know exactly what’s going to happen in the next few days with it, but I’ll know much better.. in the next few days. Yeah.

Champaign visit, version 2.0

I’m down at Alan’s apartment again this weekend. We saw Harry Potter 3 on Friday. Then yesterday we saw Troy. Both were good movies, and both were at Savoy. Both were accompanied by annoyingly loud people.

At the first, there was this rather large man sitting a seat over from us, and he for some reason couldn’t breathe any quieter than a fire alarm. I couldn’t understand it; but I didn’t yell at him or anything since he probably wasn’t doing it on purpose. It didn’t decrease the annoyingness factor though.

Then, at Troy, there were about 15 people in the entire theater. But sitting the row behind us were a couple of women who had to be in their 60s. This one in particular couldn’t talk below a car horn level. I told her “Excuse me, could you keep it down?” and pointed at the movie screen after she’d been talking particularly loud. No avail. Maybe she couldn’t hear me after going deaf from talking so loud.

Needless to say, I will avoid going to Savoy in the future as much as I can.
